I feel as though we currently live in a world that is evidently dominated by social media. We put ourselves out there and then constantly spend our time questioning why are lives aren't the same as that Instagram model, or that youtuber. Or we pick ourselves apart because we want the money to travel but we're stuck in our 9-5 jobs wondering how they got lucky. So, taking the phrase "you do you, hun" is the sheer way in which I look at the people on social media.
Now I'm not say this was how I first looked at it, I'm a 22 year old female and don't get me wrong I'd love to be an insta model living it up in the Maldives but at the same time, I don't think I'd enjoy the societal pressure that comes along with that.
I'll openly admit that if the social media that exists now existed when I was 14 I definitely think I'd spend my time comparing myself to people on Instagram, but being an older person who is now more confident I know that isn't reality for me.
I think confidence comes with age and taking a different perspective on life is not something that I can say came easy to me. Once I'd learned to push other opinions to the side and surrounded myself with people who actually cared about me it totally changed me. There's no need for comparison or trying to be super healthy because everyone is their own person. Once you remove the judgement it's like a breath of fresh air hits your face. So, you do you hun and ignore other people's opinions and do whatever you want to please you, nobody else.
